     Get your fleeces ready!
We have a real treat planned for you this Spring! Announcing the Unskirted Fiber Event for March 30 through April 1st.  This will be held at the North American Alpaca Show in Springfield, Massachusetts.
. And to make this event even more exciting ..... CIABA will be hosting a Sort-a thon! We are all working together to help our industry grow. Wow! Get your fleeces evaluated by experts in the Unskirted Fiber Event and bring the rest of your fleece to be sorted and graded by hard working, dedicated hands of apprentices! Get to know them! Bring a potluck lunch to share and come have lunch with us! Come and watch the event! Be ready to learn!

Believe it or not, in just a few short months it will be shearing time again. That means MORE fleece. More to store OR more to get sorted and graded for production. So let’s all do something different this year! Let’s do a major clean out!
Let’s get a head start on our schedule this year so we are not overwhelmed by fleece ever again.
Details will be announced soon, but mark your calendars now! There will be options to choose what you want to do with your fleece.
As always, we will work to make this event educational, fun, practical and affordable. Get ready!!! It’s time for good things in the alpaca industry and your support helps make it all happen!

Pound for Pound, as Cottage Growers, our fiber can bring more profit to us through a cottage application. Our niche markets for specialty yarns, felted items, hand made garments, and artful creations will likely bring the highest yield directly back to the producer.   However, with thousands of pounds of beautiful natural fiber available throughout the entire alpaca community, more must be done to  fully utilize  the potential of our fiber.  Where will our focus be? Will we support the North American Fiber Markets? Will we support the efforts of our Co-ops, Designers, and Mills right here in North America?  The answer is yes to all the above.
Whether you are an avid Show supporter, fiber producer, fiber enthusiast, textile creator, or designer/manufacturer, the network of cottage producers is your source of fiber. Our industry is here to stay.
Welcome to The Cottage Industry Alpaca Breeders Association  ... where it all begins (TM).

It is all about fiber. No matter what you do with it, it simply all starts with the cottage industry. Without the growers and producers, fiber application has little meaning.

The Cottage Industry Alpaca Breeders Association (TM) was   created to protect the interests of  those producing natural fiber, and the animals that bear it.  CIABA(TM) will continue to support all avenues, including commercial application of fiber that leads to a sustainable, profitable fiber industry.
